DESCRIPTION AND MEANING:

Ricardo requested this Polynesian styled redesign of the Japanese kanji representing "love".

The lower part of this tattoo is a stylized hammerhead shark, as love requires tenacity and sometimes adaptability and strength (the shark teeth below the birds on top).

It´s often a difficult path (the path of Kamehameha below the shark teeth) but it leads to joy and eternity (the sun) and can set us free (the birds on top).

A fish hook was added as it also represents "matching".

THE POLYNESIAN TATTOO HANDBOOK
finally the book to understand and create Polynesian tattoos!

I have skimmed through the book and become so very interested in the contents... Very good and suitable for a self-education in Tattoo-ology! - Anne, London
