Hi Mogs, and thanks.
We use some traditional patterns, and some slightly modified or stylized traditional ones to create our designs. The designs themselves, especially the more complex ones, are not strictly traditional, but creations made by blending those motifs to achieve the desired result. i.e if we draw a shark, some traditional shark-related pattern will be in the design, not the shark itself. Otherwise, all our shark designs would be the same.
Some designs, such as some armbands we have, are strictly traditional, without any change. In this case, we always specify they are not our creations, but traditional ones.

The concepts that you guys put together are incredible. Are this hammerhead and the related designs all traditional Maori tribal art??? This is really phenomenal.

hi picchio, i saw the photo of a maori armband (i believe it´s a mangopare), and i was wondering if you know someone in the netherlands that does these tatoos. also, wat is the meaning of the patern on the backround? i´ve been thinking about this tatoo for quit some time now, but only the symbel of the mangopare seens so basic. therefore i like the backround very much. best regards, michel van den
