DESCRIZIONE E SIGNIFICATO:

Christofer requested a design for his upper back which would represent his love for the sea, for his family, in Maori style to reflect the years he spent in New Zealand.

We used a turtle (family, navigator) inserting sun, wind and waves on the inside to symbolize that these things are central in his life, seagulls for freedom and return, and the waves motif to indicate eternal change and his passion for voyages, on sea and land (the mountains), in a continuously moving, like the sea he feels in connection with. This does not affect on his strong family bonds, closing and incorporating this central part, protected by two tikis and edged by fish hooks, symbols of wealth and prosperity.

A manta gives it the general shape to symbolize freedom and protection, and the hammerhead shark being the tail represents the determination and strength that keep pushing him forward.

That´s a great idea and the book looks fab. I wish there were more animal outlines though... - TatFan, Denver
