DESCRIPTION AND MEANING:

This design belongs to the Maori style series dedicated to the elements, represented through the animals that live in them. More info and the full list are in this post of our blog.

Fenghuang is the name of a mythological creature of East Asian cultures which can be associated to the phoenix of Greek traditions and which rules on all other birds. It´s a symbol of virtue and grace and its body is made of parts from various animals with a specific meaning associated to each one.

It´s also a symbol of balance like the yin yang; its head represents the sky, the eyes are for the sun and the back for the moon, its wings symbolize the wind and the legs earth; its tail represents the planets and the feathers include the five fundamental colours: white, black, red, blue and yellow.
