DESCRIPTION AND MEANING:

Whakahirahira means in Maori language "very important", and it refers here to the two sideview tikis that join together to form a single frontview tiki.

The two tikis have a feminine look because they represent the two most important women for Red, who requested this armband.

The central spot too, symbolizing his own happy island, is placed where the two women meet.

Other elements are korus (new beginning, life continuity), shark teeth (strength and adaptability) and the stylized turtle shell (navigator and family).

Tikis themselves are symbols of protection and fertility.
