DESCRIPTION AND MEANING:

This Samoan inspired tattoo was designed for Jonathan, to integrate a half back tattoo we previously prepared, extending it onto the buttock in the shape of stylized octopus tentacles.

There are three small scorpions on top, next to the po representing creation, each one with different elements inside: spearheads for strength, the warrior for courage, and a valley between mountains (stability in loneliness) to represent fortitude.

The manulua symbolizes the union of two families, with the lizard for protection and good luck, close to the spearheads and octopus tentacles for the strength this union gives him.
The lizard also represents looking beyond what´s visible to achieve every goal (the star), while birds symbolize watching the world from a higher point of view, for he always strives to go beyond his personal perspective.
Rafters are symbolic of family union and community while the ponapona motif above a row of people represents loyalty.

The path of Kamehameha symbolizes challenges faced with adaptability and tenacity, gathering knowledge to pass each one and to turn them into achievements (the stepping stones).

The colored legenda below shows the individual elements within the tattoo:
