Design Story
This small Polynesian shark tattoo for the forearm was prepared for Johanna and it is full of meaning despite the small size.
Spearheads go all along the body of the shark to symbolize strength and warrior spirit to face any adversity (the opposing waves) starting the voyage (the row of birds) protected by her grandmother (the tiki) to reach a new start (the koru) and find a new stability (the mountains), the goal at the end of the voyage.
The lōkahi symbol represents harmony with nature and the spirits, to symbolize union with ancestors.
The fish hook is a symbol of knowledge and prosperity, and it's shaped by the octopus tentacle for tenacity and adaptability.
Shark teeth represent adaptability too, as well as strength, and protection.
