Design Story

This Polynesian tattoo for the pec and shoulder was prepared for Marco and it is coupled with a thigh tattoo on the other side of the body for balance (to enhance the goal of these tattoos), and they are complementary both in visuals and meanings with a shared tiki looking to the front on the arm and to the back on the thigh to bring protection on all sides.

The lokahi on the shoulder represents harmony and balance, surrounded by a sun to remember the importance of balance and a positive attitude towards life.

The hammerhead with a warrior and spearheads symbolizes never to give up and always face obstacles, symbolized by the path of Kamehameha, thorns and pain.

On the pec, shark teeth for adaptability shape a sun around a star to indicate how important these caracteristics are, as well as respect (the mere), union and loyalty (the ponapona motif).

The row of birds symbolizes voyage, the stepping stones at the base are all things learnt and achieved along the way, and the ahuahu o Mataora the steps to reach there, a challenging path whose steps took Marco each time closer to his goal (balance and joy, on top).
The wave in the middle represents change and it's shaped like a koru for new beginning.

On the pec there are symbols for people, prosperity, adaptability, tenacity, voyage, all leading to the manta (freedom) and starting from the spearheads representing the warrior who never gives up.
