Borneo´s traditional tattoos are presently having a certain revival: this is the case of the Borneo rosette, which is mainly a symbol of protection, and lately acquired the meaning of great valiance and courage as well.
The spiral motif on the inside symbolized the cycle of life.
The bunga teruong, this is its original name, should always be tattooed in pairs (shoulders, battocks, chest...), to protect both sides of the body.
