Design Story

This Polynesian armband tattoo was prepared for Luis.

The warrior in the center supports and protects people and family, while a sun surrounds everyone as a symbol of joy and eternity.

The lōkahi symbol represents balance between the world of people, nature, and the world of spirits, to symbolize love for nature.

The two chasing birds symbolize support always granted to the dear ones, the braid represents union, and the net community and service, while the all-seeing eye brings protection to them all.

His path (the black line representing the flight of the albatross), with people all along the way, starts with a koru (new life), and goes along from there overcoming all the difficulties faced along the way (the path of Kamehameha) with strength and determination (the row of spearheads and the octopus tentacles).

As strength and skills increase (the spearheads become larger along the way), adversities become less and smaller (the opposing waves decrease in size as the spearheads grow).

The canoe symbolizes adventure and travels, and the fish hook prosperity, while the stepping stones at the base represent all that he has learnt and achieved along the way.
