Design Story

This tattoo prepared for Joaquin blends together elements from different Polynesian styles like the Tahitian tiki, the Marquesan enata and coconut leaves and Maori bits like the manta extending from the shoulder onto the pec:
Maori Polynesian sleeve and pec tattoo
which symbolizes knowledge, tenacity and freedom and which gives the name to this tattoo.
The upper wing of the manta recalls an adult fern leaf for maturity.

In the middle of the shoulder there is a turtle for family, with a Marquesan cross and an all-seeing eye for harmony and protection.

The two tiki on the sides protect family from every danger.
