Design Story

This feminine Polynesian tattoo that flows from the ankle up the lower leg was prepared for Jessica and it celebrates her family.

The small turtle with orchids represents their dog Louiee, who passed away at 14 (the 14 shark teeth along his path of life, which led him to become like a member of the family.

The symbol that joins the orchid flowers to the hibiscus is a row of two lei hala (pandanus garlands), which symbolize giving and taking, as he took much from the family, but gave them even more, including the beauty of enjoying every moment as represented by the flower of hibiscus.
Above it, there are waves symbolizing Jessica's connection to the ocean, while the two flowers of frangipani and the shark represent her daughters and husband, with chasing birds to show how they will always support each other.

The sun is a symbol of joy and eternity, and the lōkahi is a symbol of harmony between people, nature, and spirits.
