Design Story

Marlous asked for a more elaborate version of the Adinkra traditional symbol called SANKOFA, which symbolizes "learning from the past". As some of the parts of the original design look much like Maori´s fern buds, which indicate a new beginning, we thought of combining the two cultures, making the sankofa look like being carved out of the main patterns, to mean that every new beginning will see success if we do not forget what we learn from the past. Roots make the tree strong.
