Design Story

The manaia, like the taniwha, is a creature with fish tail, human body and bird´s head.

It has a similar meaning to the western guardian angel, and it represents balance and the union of the elements.

In this case the body is made up of several sea elements to symbolize the bond with the ocean: a dolphin in the head (friendship, game), a manta in the body (freedom, elegance and protection) and a seashell in the tail (love and intimacy, safe shelter).

We added a gecko inside the body as a wish for good health.
