Phoenix with korus

Rebirth |December 16, 2008
by: GiErre

Design Story

The phoenix was originally a symbol of eternity, but it gets more and more often associated to a renewal following a traumatic event, according to the legend saying that the phoenix is born again from the ashes of its own fire. In this case, the wings made of korus, or unfolding fern fronds symbolizing a new beginning and life“s continuity as well, enforce both of these meanings.

The tails recall fish hooks, or matau, which symbolize abundance and wealth.
