Design Story

This full sleeve tattoo was prepared in two separate parts for Markus.

The upper half incorporates elements from several cultures, like the Celtic triskell and the Mayan glyph and warrior´s hair decoration, while the rest is Polynesian.
It includes two dates as maorigrams and it represents the warrior, eternity and the eternal cycle of life.

The lower half deals mainly with two ideas: everything is a wave and quantum mechanics, which implies that there are infinite possibilities at the same time (the different shades of color represent the different probabilities) and we choose our own reality.

The left part is made of waves revolving around a bigger one that swirls into a spiral respecting the golden ratio as it´ often found in nature.
It represents beauty and harmony.

The Marquesan cross on the right is a symbol for harmony and union of the elements and it´s surrounded by several enata in different colors and by spears heads in a sun shape to symbolize how there are different directions that coexist at the same time, which we can choose from.
