Design Story

The turtle surrounded by the sun and with the couple inside supporting their two children symbolizes family and positivity.
A star in the center indicates importance, the fixed point and the direction to follow, while the flax leaves and the braid symbolize family unity through all changes (the waves on the front flippers) and the fish hooks prosperity.

The mere at the bottom is a symbol of the chief and it represents authority, respect, and leadership.
The path of Kamehameha extending into the past symbolizes the challenges faced, with the stones becoming larger to indicate growing successes, while the opposing waves becoming smaller indicate ever-decreasing difficulties along his path, pursuing goals with tenacity and determination (the hammerhead shark also protecting the turtle, with the spearheads for the warrior providing for the family).

The lizard brings protection and health, while the octopus tentacle is another symbol of adaptability and tenacity.
