Design Story

This band tattoo was prepared for Greg and it mixes Polynesian style with Haida and Tlingit elements to join two aspects of his life.

The animals that were included in the Northwest Coast style are the bear, with a salmon in his paws, the killer whale, the otter with a sea urchin and the sun composing one half of the sunmoon on the back of the calf.

The Polynesian part includes a turtle centrally (family) and other elements related to the sea and to diving: a manta, an ulua and a diver; a name was added within the moon.

Spear heads symbolize the warrior who, like the bear and the killer whale, protects the turtle in the center.
Fish symbolize prosperity and the frigate is for voyage and a higher perspective.
