The phoenix represents eternity, cyclicity, immutability in change: even if the phoenix changes in time, until she dies in her own flames, she will actually be born again, new but always the same, forever. Thet´s why sometimes the phoenix design is also used to symbolize fidelity to oneself, beyoud exterior changes.
